Our music programme
Music lessons in Years 6, 7 and 8 comprise one lesson per week per class and pursue various objectives:
1) Based on what pupils know and appreciate, provide them with analytical and comparative tools to broaden their musical horizons;
2) To introduce pupils to the beauty of music that is unknown or at least unfamiliar to them through guided listening and practice.
3) To make pupils aware of the importance of music as an aesthetic and cultural phenomenon and to convey to them what this definition means in concrete terms in their everyday lives.
Of crucial importance, therefore, is the preparation and performance of the school’s ‘concert’, a real happening in which the young people perform on stage accompanied by a band of professional musicians.
The preparation of the event takes up practically all the available time and even more, but it gives the young people a unique experience that shows them what it really means to experience music as protagonists.
